HHS’s proposal on accounting for
patient data disclosures represents a continuing effort to
provide people with more rights to their medical
information. At the same time, the expansion of those rights
is likely to affect more than simply the audit and
monitoring programs that covered entities must maintain – to
the extent they maintain them at all.
To help healthcare compliance
officers and senior management understand the short and
long-term implications of the HHS proposal, Melamedia, LLC,
publisher of Health Information Privacy/Security Alert
is producing a 90-minute webinar:
The Ripple Effects
of
HHS Proposed Requirements for Accounting of Disclosures
Participants will be briefed on:
- The
specifics of the proposal;
- How the
proposed expanded patient rights may
affect HIPAA privacy and security
enforcement;
- Tips and
challenges in developing designated
record sets;
- How the
proposal fits into the world of EHRs and
meaningful use;
- The
potential impact on Accountable Care
Organizations;
- The effect
of HIPAA pre-emption decisions on
patient access to records;
- Why all
types of health research may face new
challenges; and
- Why workers
comp, ADA, FMLA and other laws may be
affected.
